|Brewmaster Kevin McNerney|
In 1992, while attending the University of Colorado, Boulder, Brewmaster Kevin McNerney knew there was a tastier calling than his degree in Economics would provide. He began his brewing career that year at Rockies Brewing Company (Colorado’s first craft brewery), in Boulder . He quickly realized making great beer made people happy and could be the path to an enjoyable career. At Rockies Brewing Co. he worked his way through the ranks in order to achieve his goal of becoming a brewer. In 1993, Kevin was hired as Head Brewer of Avery Brewing Company in Boulder. Here Kevin refined his ability to brew some of Colorado’s best beer.
In 1995, Kevin was given the opportunity to build and open Mammoth Brewing Company, a brewpub nestled in the beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountain range. Between brewing beer at Mammoth Brewing and skiing, Kevin’s other passion, he found time to realize his ultimate goal of owning and operating a microbrewery.
In 1996, at the age of 26, Kevin moved to Atlanta, Georgia, bringing with him a desirable west coast brewing philosophy, where he began to build SweetWater Brewing Company. Kevin’s title as Brewmaster helped consistently grow SweetWater into our country's largest brewery, producing more than 70,000 barrels of beer a year. Kevin is extremely proud of SweetWater’s accomplishments but felt his continued role would distract him from his family. He resigned from SweetWater Brewing Company in 2008 to dedicate more time to his wife Sabrina and daughters Frannie and Charlotte.
Kevin was excited for the opportunity to become Brewmaster of 5 Seasons, Sandy Springs. He lives in Sandy Springs and has been a loyal fan of The “5” from the beginning.
“ The opportunity to brew a wide range of styles in the comfortable relaxing atmosphere of The '5', and have a personal interaction with our customers has rejuvenated my passion for brewing. I strive to give our customer a great experience through food, beer, atmosphere and friendly service every time. I try to avoid wowing people with absurd gimmicks. I stick to the principle; if you make great beer consistently they will come. Thanks for your support!”
"By volume, David Larkworthy uses more locally grown produce than any other chef in Atlanta. As chef and co-owner of the 5 Seasons Brewing Company, Larkworthy is a bit of an anomaly. His high-volume restaurant serves up to 1,000 people a day, and his food is affordable and accessible. Yet Larkworthy cares just as much as the city's fine-dining chefs about ingredients and quality, and the survival of local farmers." - Creative Loafing
